STEPANKA CERVINKOVA

I am a Czech-Australian Director and Digital Storyteller. My work has been exhibited and screened all around the world.I have over 15 years of experience working in creative media; producing, directing and shooting documentaries, commercials and drama. I worked on International campaigns, television shows and feature films.

In 2022, I was hired as a screenwriter of a big-budget period drama about a heroine of the Czech horse racing scene, Lata. (Prod. Hana Mojžíšová-Hájková)

Since 2021, I have been working on my directorial feature debut,, My Longest Dive (Prod. Incitus Films,No/Cz/Eg).

After relocation to Europe in 2020, I became an ambassador for the Czech branch of Sigma lenses. My project The Swallows was selected to participate in the screenwriting workshop MidPoint Intensive.

In Australia I worked for Arts Centre Melbourne in a capacity of Content Producer. Among my projects belonged campaigns for flagship arts festival Supersense or main camera work for Australian Music Vault, the largest initiative mapping the entire history of Australian pop & rock music. Patrons of the projects are Kylie Minogue, Tina Arena or Archie Roach.

As a Main Camerawoman I shot two feature films: Measure for Measure starring Hugo Weaving (dir. Paul Ireland, sold to US distribution), and No Time For Quiet (dir. Hylton Shaw and Samantha Dinning, purchased by ABC Broadcaster).

In 2018 I was awarded scholarship to study at Master’s of Directing program at Victorian College of Arts (Alumni Justin Kurzel, Rodd Rathjen, Kitty Green or Qui Yang).

The same year I was selected to participate in directorial workshop with Palme D’Or winner Cristan Mungiu, and VR-workshop conducted by Matt Thompson (MIT, LA Thompson VR). My graduate film Solace was awarded Margaret Lawrence Social Justice Award.

My photographic work has been exhibited all around the world. My photographs were printed in International publications (The Age, The Leader, Accidental Discharge, Fashion Journal) as well as Czech publications (Koktejl Magazine).  

My portrait series Melbourne Lure was awarded George Patton Gallery Arts Grant.
